The Purangi Winery was established in 1985 the 37th Winery in New Zealand. The Evans Family who moved from Hong Kong were welcomed as settlers by the district in 1966. After buying land from the Harsant and Wigmore Families and opening and operating the Hahei store and later in 1972 the 60 acres where the winery is located was farmed running pigs, cows, sheep and goats, then planted supplying the Auckland Markets with table grapes, kiwifruit, garlic and fresh produce. 

When the land was cleared originally organic principles were adopted. Our products are made in the traditional manner with purest ingredients hence the company name Purangi Estate Ltd or “PurEst”.
